And another video game rolls in. As a fan of both mediums I am cautiously optimistic for this title as the trailer surprisingly has some style to it (generic looking title card aside). Its well cut and sound mixed, doesn’t give too much away, good music choice. Most importantly It has momentum!
As far as adaptations go this movie has the added benefit of no franchise mythos to translate to a casual audience, a decent budget, and momentum from the Aaron Paul fanbase for the end of Breaking Bad, along with an up and coming cast.
The cast is rounded out by Dominic Cooper (Abraham Lincoln; Vampire Hunter) best known for having played Howard Stark in Captain America, and Dakota Johnson who will star in the lead role of Anastasia Steele the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation.
The director’s pedigree so far only includes the moderately successful Act of Valor but having a filmography that is packed with a multitude of stunt work, if he can take the Justin Lin approach and focus on the stunts mixed with the street racing aspect that the Fast and Furious franchise has dropped then we might have a hit on our hands come March 14th.
